Report to the station

We would go through the phone book and pick on random numbers until we got through to some old person.

The phone calls from Ard Lui went like this:

Ralph:                   Hello, this is detective sergeant Tom Nash from Blackrock Garda station.

Is that Mr Kelly?

Mr Kelly:              Yes, What’s the problem?

Ralph:                   We have reason to believe that you were evolved in a shoplifting incident in Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt at 3pm yesterday.

When would be a good time for you to visit the station in Blackrock?

Mr Kelly:              Oh, there must be some mistake, I was not even in Dunnes yesterday.

Person on the phone now usually very upset

Ralph:                   I’m afraid if you don’t come down to the station we will have to come to your house and collect you in 15 minutes time.

The person then always made an appointment to visit the station at this stage.

I’m sure the Blackrock Gardai had a bit of a laugh with all these people showing up for interviews about shoplifting
