Sydenham Villas’
On Sydenham Villas we were known for our selection of surnames. We had quite an array of names from the normal to the…, well here we go.
The first family at the end of the Cul de Sac were the Ffolliotts; two sisters and one drove a pink Morris Minor – very trendy, then the Stringers, followed by the Shortalls, the Nevens, the Mortimores, the Gauls, the Funges, the Seniors, the Greenes (the only normal family!!!!), the Boyces, the Tichers, the Kennys and finally the Fahys.
Beat that for one road.
Certainly hard to beat that Ronie. Love it
Ahh – a memory jog. Arthur Senior – another good friend – I do recall meeting him one day in the company of a female of the species and asking if this was his mum. It was his sister. I still cringe with embarrassment.
Professor Nevin and Colonel Boyce. Neither ever spoke to us mere mortals. Mind you, we never spoke to them either.
