Leopardstown Races

‘Come on Janey Ag, we’ll miss the first race’.  Grandpa paced the hall. Janey Ag appeared and off they went to Leopardstown races in Grandpa’s beautiful old XJ6. It had fitted suitcases in the boot and a cocktail cabinet made from walnut in the back. Us kids with Mum driving in our car, followed.
We must have distracted her. Traffic was nose to tail and suddenly these two met – Ma’s car smack into the back of the jag. My mother didn’t get out – the only result was a fist shaken out the Jag ‘s window. But the two Gardai standing right there by the side of the road didn’t know of this special relationship.
